The Cal/OSHA Hotel Housekeeper MIPP Standard
In 2018 a new occupationally-specific compliance standard went into effect across California. The Cal/OSHA Hotel Housekeeper Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention Program Standard (MIPP) focuses specifically on hotel housekeepers. The Standard prescribes specific steps that must be taken on an annual basis to help protect housekeepers.
Tim Pottorff, MSIE, CIE, ARM, has over 30-years’ professional experience and has performed thousands of ergonomics assessments and training courses at client locations around the world. Pottorff is a leading Industrial Ergonomist and is an expert on the Cal/OSHA Hotel Housekeeper MIPP Standard. He provides Cal/OSHA compliance services to hospitality clients across California. He speaks regularly at Ergonomics and Safety Conferences across the country, and is Principal at QP3 ErgoSystems, a full-service risk consulting company.

Ron has worked with over 350 companies, including Lockheed Martin Aeronautics; US Foods; Mars Incorporated; E.I. Du Pont; DS Services; Shell Oil; International Paper; WestRock; A-dec Dental; Patterson Dental: Arizona Public Service Company; Association of California Water Agencies/Joint Powers Insurance Agency and the United States Navy; consulting on the development and implementation of innovative ergonomics programs for both individual plant sites and entire corporations.
He was chosen as the 2012 ASSE Ergonomics Practice Specialty Safety Professional of the Year, one of the 50 Most Influential People in Workers’ Compensation by the 2014 SEAK National Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Medicine Conference and received a 2016 President’s Award presented by the ASSE.
